Our Museum in the old goods shed at Buckfastleigh has been around for a good many years. It was established in the days of the Dart Valley Railway, and since then it has seen many changes. The biggest has been the extensive refurbishment begun in the winter of 2009 and now with its smart new, bright look is well on its way to becoming a truly top class venue. The museum is planned to undergo more changes, becoming the centrepiece of the South Devon Railway Heritage Centre. It will be expanded to include the whole of the former goods shed, with an outside space for external exhibits. The original signal box should become an interactive exhibit, restored to itsí former glory, and visitors will be able to operate the lever frame and learn how a signal box works.

More details on the museum are available on the South Devon Railway website HERE or at Devon Museums Online HERE. We are currently constructing a purpose built website for the museum, which will hopefully be online as soon as possible. This will contain a lot more information on our exhibits and contain many useful resources. Please keep checking back for updates on itsí progress.
