General Histories
Histories.
Welcome to the History section of this site, within this section is a basic history of the line, which gives as the title would suggest a general history of the line, when it was built, any changes worthy of note and a general background to the line. There is a page with a basic history of signalling itself, explaining how signalling came about, why and how it developed. In time we hope to make this section more comprehensive.

There is also a more detailed history of each town/village that the line served/s, containing information about each station itself and the histories that go with them. On top of this each station has a more in depth page which contains information on the signalling history for each location, using all available information,  to describe the signalling arrangements throughout the life of the line right up to the present time.

Each signal box, past and present also has its own history page, detailing all available information we can find such as original locations, type of frame, number of levers, diagrams, local instruction and much more.

We hope you enjoy these pages and that they prove to be a useful resource.
If you have any comments or suggestions on anything we have missed or you would like to know more on then please get in Contact.
